Leaf has introduced the world’s highest resolution in a one-shot medium format digital camera back, the Aptus-II 12 and Aptus-II 12R. They offer 80MP 53.7 x 40.3mm CCD sensors, 3.5″ touch screen on the back, 12-stop dynamic range and 80-800 ISO range. The Aptus-II 12R adds an internal rotating sensor system which allows users to change from portrait to landscape orientation without removing the back.

Fujifilm announces FindPix X100 digital camera with hybrid viewfinder

Fujifilm has announced the development of a new rangefinder styled compact camera, the FindPix X100. The FindPix X100 packs a 12.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, fixed 35mm-equivalent f/2 Fujinon lens, 720p HD movie recording, a 460k dot 2.8″ LCD, flash hot shoe, and magnesium alloy and hybrid optical viewfinder. The camera also offers ISO range of 200 to 6400, and there’s also 5fps continuous shooting, a full-on manual mode and SD / SDHC / SDXC card support. The FindPix X100 is expected to be released early in 2011.

Photokina 2010 is just starting over in Germany today, Pentax has announced the K-5 of its DSLR line-up. The new K-5 features a new 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, a 100 to 12800 ISO range, faster continuous shooting up to 7fps burst mode, much-improved 11-point autofocus and an overhauled HDR mode. The Pentax K-5 also offers a very high maximum sensitivity of ISO 51200 (set on custom function), which is the highest in an APS-C camera. Other specs include a 3-inch, 921k-dot LCD around the back, 100 percent viewfinder coverage, 1080/25p video and SDHC memory card compatibility.
